Russian Brest Litevsk Regiment

Well that seemed to take forever! Everything was going swimmingly one minute, the next a huge dose of real life gets in the way. Finally I have completed the 40 man Russian musketeer battalion.

They seem so less showy than their Grenadier friends! However they look determined to get the job done and my next posting will be some cavalry to back them up. Not sure if I can get them finished by the end of the month as I have a lot of other stuff to do-but I will give it a go!

Finally I had to use my back up camera tonight so cannot achieve the full depth of field I usually manage. PLUS what have Blogger done to their templates? I like the old style of updating etc...how do I get it back?

Siberian Grenadier Regiment

Here is the first of June's big units-40 figures in total for this Grenadier Regiment. Another 40 figure musketeer unit is primed up and well under way.

These guys are wearing summer trousers and are packing everything with their backpacks, blanket rolls and large mess tins. Apart from some old ESCI figures (which I never finished) I think this must be the first unit of Russian infantry I have ever completed... June certainly is a month of "firsts" for me!

Flags courtesy of Warflag. Next up Russian musketeers and then some cavalry.

My First Hinton Hunts?

The whole of June is "Russia Month". All figures posted on this blog will be from the land of Vodka and solemn music!

To kick off are four Napoleonic Grenadiers-the first Hinton Hunts I have ever painted*. They are actually a lot more delicately sculpted than I had originally imagined and I can see their attraction to collectors. The ebay prices are quite incredible for a reason!

I have more HH cavalry to paint for their true owner but next up will be a battalion of Newline Napoleonic infantry.

*See comments re identification!

Finally-for those interested in the ACW collection I will be posting more in the next few days over on the "Waterloo to Mons" blog (including comparison shots of Jacklex vs others).
